Job Posting: Progressive Technology Project is hiring a Movement Support and Systems Technologist

October 5, 2026

Summary

Progressive Technology Project is seeking a Movement Support and Systems Technologist to join our small and committed 3-person team. This person will join PTP’s mission of organizing resistance to oppressive corporate technologies through political education, movement building, and creating people-controlled technology that serves the needs of community organizations. PTP is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and provides movement technology and holistic technology support as a movement partner, not a corporate tech vendor. We are organizers ourselves, and all support provided to the cross-issue social justice organizations participating in our programming is done with a deep understanding of the value, importance and urgency of their work.

At Progressive Technology Project, we believe that a just world requires dismantling systemic oppression in all its forms—including racism, sexism, classism, ableism, and heteropatriarchy. We know that the movement for social change is strongest when it is led by the communities most directly impacted by systemic injustice. We recognize that traditional hiring practices often replicate societal inequities. Because of this, we are committed to an intersectional, equitable recruitment and selection process that values lived experience, diverse perspectives, and a shared dedication to liberation.

We strongly encourage applications from People of Color, Indigenous People, Immigrants and Refugees, LGBTQIA+ Individuals, Women, Gender non-Conforming Folx, People with Disabilities, and People who have been impacted by the criminal justice system.

We welcome candidates with diverse educational backgrounds. We value non-traditional paths, community organizing experience, self-developed technological skill and grassroots advocacy just as highly as formal degrees. If you are passionate about social justice, deeply aligned with our values, have technical expertise and are excited to bring your unique skills to our team, we want to hear from you!
